The Political Algorithm of Nigeria 2015

The long awaited 2015 is here and we are getting closer to the peak of the political period of Nigeria’s 2015. By May 2015, there will be swearing-ins around the federation from Alausa to Aso Rock. A new tenure will begin but the algorithm has started and the hottest day to expect is the 14th day of the 2nd month of the year.

The 14th day of February has always been a day that babes feel obliged to receive gifts from their friends. To some of us, it is just another day with a sun rise and a sun set. To the Nigerian atmosphere, 2015’s Feb 14 is going to be a determinant to the direction Nigeria intends to take for the next 4 years.

The political atmosphere is getting heated up with jungle politics and so many gimmicks and propaganda. The politicians have resorted to campaign against each other instead of campaigning for Nigeria. They have continuously emphasied on the negatives of the other instead of giving us manifestos that can tell the populace what they have in mind. They have resorted in calling names and making every other person look worse.

Nigerians voted Jonathan in 2011 but many have been disappointed with his government. Six years and it seems he has nothing to show for it. He does have but just as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, his achievement would only be seen by those that want to look for it. The populace is yearning for a change, any kind of change, change from within or without.

Buhari seems to be the only option available to the those that will vote on Feb 14. A look back at Buhari’s past makes many wonder if he is the change we all clamour for. At 72, the Former military head of state continues to make himself available to be voted for.  His running mates have been pastors and he had lost all the time he contested. Will 2015 be different? Osibanjo, his running mate may sway his RCCG disciples but some may ponder how he will continue to be a pastor especially after taking a swipe on the presidency in a rather un-pastor-ly manner. Will Zahra win more votes for her father?

On the presidential level, Nigerians are presented with two not-good choices. They wish they can have a better choice than Jonathan and Buhari. As the saying goes, ” of two evils, choose the lesser”

If you must be able to choose your preferred candidate, you must have gotten your permanent voters card. No PVC, No choice. INEC may deny many people of their rights to make their choice because they have failed in providing and/or distributing the PVCs. Twice I had to register for the voters card and it was reported that virus attacked the database in my polling units. Story for the gods. I only have the Temporary voters card and i am yet to get a PVC with the major elections less than a month away.

For those of you with the PVC, don’t just put your eyes on the presidential elections. The government starts from your ward, through your local government, constituency, state before the federal elections. Vote the right person, not just a party. You can have a good leadership in that small ward where you live if you vote right. Hopefully, your vote will count. If you don’t vote, there will be no hope of having your vote counted.

2015 Handbook of Life

As 2014 dwindled, I got a mail from one of my colleagues (Yinka) and it so much touched me that i promised to post it here. It will help you in this new year. Try them out and see a better you.

Dear loved one,

Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Your Health:

  • Drink plenty of water every day to detoxify your body.
  • Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar so you can be here for long.
  • Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less of manufactured in plants.
  • Live with the 3 E’s – You must keep your Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.
  • Make time to pray, you need divine strength everyday of your life.
  • Play games to challenge your brain and keep it young all the time.
  • Read more books to keep pace with your personal development drive.
  • Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day for deep, reflective and focused thinking.
  • Sleep for at least 6 hours daily so you can keep your energy level at pace.
  • Take a 30-45 minutes’ walk daily. And while you walk, wear a smile to relax.

Your Personality:

  • Don’t compare your life to others’. You have no idea of what their purpose is.
  • Don’t develop negative thoughts on things you cannot control i.e. the weather elements rather invest your energy in things that are in your reach i.e. your moods.
  • Don’t live overboard. Live within your strength; develop your capacity to overshadow your limitations.
  • Don’t take yourself so seriously. Relax deadlines are set by people but achieve your goals.
  • Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip or backbiting so you won’t be laid back..
  • Dream more while you are awake and put your thoughts in concrete plans with actions.
  • Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. The grass is not greener on the other side. You are gifted for your assignment.
  • Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind people about the mistakes of their past that will ruin their present happiness. The past is always what it is – the past!
  • Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others. Live in forgiveness. You owe everyone your love and forgiveness because you are not perfect.
  • Make peace with your past so it won’t always show up in your present. Don’t cover it any further; confront it to enjoy true freedom; no one is in charge of your happiness except YOU!
  • Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.  Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appears and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime. Laugh at your mistakes and refuel to face your future.
  • You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. Life is about win-win experiences.

Your Relationships:

  • Call your family often. You don’t have a space that can’t be occupied by your loved ones!
  • Each day give something good to others. Make people around you feel great about their lives.
  • Forgive everyone for everything even when they are unlovable and unforgiveable in your own estimations. Opinions are cheap but convictions are rare.
  • Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6 years so you can understand the dynamics of life.
  • Try to make at least three people smile each day.
  • Your job/business won’t take care of you when you are down. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Your Life:

  • Always desire to do the right thing, without any compromise!
  • Get rid of anything that isn’t useful in your life; don’t waste your time and opportunities.
  • GOD can heal everything, especially the so called hopeless situations of our lives.
  • However good or bad a situation is; it will come to pass. It has definitely not come to stay.
  • No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. Consistency is the rule of life.
  • The best is yet to come. Always develop a good expectation of a favorable outcome.
  • When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD because Life itself is a gift! Be joyful!

Enjpy the new year

Happy New 2015 … Something New

After the customary cross over night with my family and fellow believers in Christ where we had the escapee anointing, i dozed off tired but work up to the smiles of my little neice.

My daily bible software popped up this bible verse:

Isaiah 43:19

19See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

The verse was speaking to me and maybe you. It is a period when we need to dedicate all to God so he makes something out of what you think is nothing.

Is anything too hard for God? He has kept you since you inhaled your first doze of Oxygen gas and sure will keep till you finish your mission.

This is mission 2015. Ride with God and see your streams of blessing from that wasteland.

Happy New year friends. Live the year for God.

Remain blessed.
